Fusion
Welcome to the land of air conditioning. That is, the computer lab here at the University. I think that I want to live here. There are Macintosh G5 computers everywhere! I don't know where they got the money for it. The thing runs faster than any other computer that I have ever seen.
France as the site for nuclear fusion, huh? Quite a nice spot I suppose. Just how they're going to do all that... I'm unsure. Harnessing sea water seems sort of unpredictable.
Hmm, a lot going on. New place in September, first roommate, Scholarship thank-you letter, tight on money right now.. what a long week.
I'm celebrating with a pineapple bun. Oh yes, sweet sweet pineapple.
Remembering a visit to Wilde to escape the heat last week. Turing and lost Fresh Fruits. Please reappear, please reappear.
"A heartless hand on my shoulder
A push - and it's over
Alabaster crashes down
(Six months is a long time)
Tried living in the real world
Instead of a shell
But before I began ...
I was bored before I even began" - "Shoplifters of the World Unite", The Smiths
I am bastardizing the meaning of that song, I know, but it's such a wonderful lyric. Still, I should have perhaps used "Bigmouth Strikes Again" by the Smiths and the Mozzer instead. But I'm not one for taking blame today...
Oh well I'm bored.
"I've got no right to take my place with the human race."

Irritable
I am jumpy today. I'm reacting to everything nervously. I have a stutter.
Perfect day to meet a new roommate.
Still, a nice place on the horizon! Right? Prospects are good, you might say.

Board
Massive rainstorm passing through. I shouldn't say this, but I want it to last for days. The weather report says that it's gonna turn into isolated thunderstorms. Alas, the severeness is a limited time offer.
Diet: Bok choy, ramen, hot Szechuan oil, Porcini mushrooms, kiwi, and green tea.

Alright
Trying to wait for Tom (next door Tom, not my longtime friend Tom, who is in Las Vegas) to come back from his meandering with the wacky friends of his. They're all doing swell. However it's overall an uncomfortable night. I sense some sort of a low on its way given a few recent developments on several fronts. Yeah.
Oh whatever. It's all gonna be alright. Just a fucked up evening. Segway's running over people, drunks crashing into my door, Beep Beep and A Perfect Circle on my stereo, about 150 years of peace with the South, and uh, whatever else.
I should have gone to bed a few hours ago. I should have planned to get up early for a morning walk, coffee, and roll.
Don't touch the button.
Don't touch the button.
Don't...

Relive
A recipe for concocting a witches brew, summon a ram:
1 part Root Beer
1 part Orange Soda
1 part Svedka Clementine
Ice
Conjure up a skeleton rowing down the river Styx.
Serve the drink with Old Dutch Dill Pickle Chips.

Falls
The best part of this week by far was a journey to Stillwater and Taylors Falls. What a day trip. There was a picnic, antique shops, bookstores, a cave cafe, ancient potholes, river rapids, ketchup, a mocha, cool bridges, Alternateen mayhem, and much more. It was very swell. Time went by slowly and there was plenty to talk about. It was the best thing that could have happened this week. I got away with Em and we left our overactive minds behind for once - and went exploring.

Nephew
Okay, bear with me. I have a brother.
He's a complete opposite of me. He's in the military. He's religious. He's married. To someone from the South nonetheless (although she's Cajun, which is cool).
My brother always liked Sports Illustrated girls. I liked dead actresses.
He always watched for football drafts. I watched for changes in comic book team lineups.
He was the muscleman who broke weightlifting records and gobbled meat proteins. I was the vegetarian who was viewed as being anorexic.
He has blue eyes. I have greenish brown.
He likes rap, I like rock and whatever else.
His favorite show was Dawson's Creek. I only watched TV when Iron Chef was on.
Yes, mainstream vs. outsider, temper vs. meditation, mall clothes vs. bizarre thrift, blue vs. red, and more..
Well, this opposite of mine had a kid born in front of his eyes the other day. On June 13th, at just after 1AM EST. My brother, a medic, put on his scrubs and helped to deliver the little guy as his wife was going through a C-section. I found out the following day that the next generation of my family just arrived.
My younger sisters are aunts. My mom is a grandma. My grandmas are great-grandmas. Everything gets pushed back.
And yet, that all seems conceptual right now. To me reality hasn't changed yet. I'm still young, there's still a lot to do ahead. But someday soon my brother will bring over this little nephew of mine and I'll stop thinking of my own place in the whole scheme of things.
I'm just happy that he didn't have a kid when he was 13 or something.

Place
"It's way too late to be this locked inside ourselves
The trouble is that you're in love with someone else
It should be me. Oh, it should be me
Your sacred parts, your get aways
You come along on summer days
Tenderly, tastefully
And so may we make time
Try to find somebody else
This place is mine
You said today, you know exactly how I feel
I had my doubts little girl
I'm in love with something real
It could be me that's changing
And so may we make time
To try and find somebody else
Who has a line
Now season with health
Two lovers walk a lakeside mile
Try pleasing with stealth, growing old
See what stands long or ending fast
Oh, how I love you
In the evenings, when we are sleeping
We are sleeping. Oh, we are sleeping
And so may we make time
We try to find somebody else
Who has a line
Now season with health
Two lovers walk a lakeside mile
Try pleasing with stealth, growing old
See what stands long or ending fast" - C'mere, Interpol

Great
"...doesn't the mystique of Dinkytown sort of disappear when you live there?" - Tone
It was never about the mystique of the place. Today I hopped down to the Purple Onion, grabbed a cold press, and went about my way.
Before I left, the deliverance song was "Public Pervert" by Interpol.
Once I got to the campus, I took out my mallet and struck an end on the hollow abstract metal statue above Williamson Hall. The tone of the bell-like vibration was pleasing. Then I went into the Northrup and worshipped the stage amongst people tearing down the Eden Prairie graduation set.
On my way out, I yelled, "OH BABY OH YEAAAHHHH!!!" to a bus full of bewildered high school graduates on their way to food and fornication. "Thank you very much sir, you have a wonderful night sir!" I bowed. We shared rock and roll signs with our fingers, and Kiss tongues with our mouths. Party on indeed.
The library was closed, and its employees smoked on the outside. I went to the Washington Avenue bridge with my "To Truth" paper airplane in hand. I tried writing more than that but my pen ran out of ink.
I tossed it off the side. It had a nice glide for a moment, and then took a rapid spiral into the water.
I dared myself to walk home in lieu of the disgusting humidity.
Today I got a $1000 scholarship! My mother thought that it wasn't that much, and more of a symbolic gesture. My grandmothers were insanely excited. I personally think that it's simply a sign to do even better. And it is a lot of money. I'm bloody honored!
Ironically and most unfortunately, they put an end to the school that admitted me into the University of Minnesota today. The Board of Regents voted 11-1 to strategically reposition what I felt was a great place. A place that accepted me and my B- high school average, and then helped turn me into something else. The old General College will be missed, and its coherent mission will be missed even more.

Coleslaw
Yes, yes, feast!

Mr. Mc-G has given me... COLESLAW; to feast upon. To devour. To.. yes..
Meanwhile, bloody blood and Fantômas firing away through my work day. $5.38. For me? Let's return the favors.
Acadia. Those bastards across the street in that Starbucks are trying to outdo Acadia. Stupid Starbuckian motherfuckers! Stupid Yuppie condo gentrification yeah?

Trance
I am in a hot, empty, silent store.
There is trance music on the Japanese radio station.
Oddly enough, this song made me tear up a few weeks ago.
Thankfully I was able to write the title down.
