Stings
I feel bad for Death and Tom tonight, each one ran into their own obstacle and took a hit. I feel bad for my friends. They try hard to be good guys and to keep things going, but there is something keeping each one of them stuck. Who says that we have to be ambitious? Who says that we have to make lots of money? These guys just want some good pals and a bit of love. But even the smallest amount of desire to get a girl or to get comfortable can sting you. "To be happy at home is the ultimate result of all ambition." - Dr. Samuel Johnson, The Rambler (1750)
So Death's tire blew and Tom's patience is gone. On my end, I feel like a chess player who dreads the next few moves, but is happy with the past couple. I don't always view life as a game. There is just a gentle anxiety building up lately, a totally useless but significant feeling. The wrong moves will hurt me. The competition against the threat of nature is grating on my nerves.
The highlight of today was a ferocious blast of lightning that struck a tree less than a block from my work. It's cooler thanks to the rain. Also, the days have seemed shorter due to the cloud cover. My hopes are mixed. I want summer to end early for a few reasons, and I want inevitability to be stifled for other ones.
A few days ago there was a kind glance sent my way at the shop. Babbling and dramatically played-out customer service sparked it off. I must have come off as insane but didn't intend to. It's always beautiful though when an atmosphere of uptightness melts away. "..I hope that people understand you, and hope that you don't change." - Nick, long ago. I think that guy realized how I felt. I simply didn't want to fall in line. If I enjoyed people turning their heads, it was due to their surprise, not my vanity.
It reminds me of the long-haired, braces-installed, funky fruitcake plaid-shirted, "live in the present, yet not necessarily in reality" past version of myself. In a sense, living in the past or future, with too much worry or too much introversion - that's far flung from reality as well. If you go too far, you'll realize how much time you're wasting.. how much you're eating away at yourself. It's not glamourous. It's not freshman girl syndrome.
Thinking about something earlier this month.. It was beautiful in ways when I walked through the skeleton of my ash-covered old room. There were no walls, you could see from one side of the house to the other.

Turducken

Turducken is insane.
I'm tired.
All I want to do is sit down, read, and sip iced coffee. And phone.

Shaven
Amazing Spider-Man #1 never tasted so good.
I shaved this morning. What an unusual day. Surprisingly, my financial aid actually DROPPED due to cuts in Federal Pell Grants. Only by about a thousand dollars. It will be interesting to see how much school costs this year.
More seaweed crackers today. Tonight - some sort of party in Bloomington of all places. It's been a busy one here at work. I have these thoughts in the back of my mind though.. something isn't right, far away.

Cantaloupe
Nearly everyone that I have talked with today has joked about my girlfriend attacking Mexico. Well, not my grandfather or.. Em herself. Speaking of my elders, I am hiding in the northwestern parts of the Twin Cities until tomorrow due to the humidity and heat, which I have difficulty adjusting to.
Tonight I have been reading articles on nuclear tests, weapons, accidents, and power plants. I am reminded of NSP's old disaster here in Minnesota in the 70's, when they accidentally dumped radioactive water into the Mississippi. That ended up in St Paul's water supply.
Also, Wading River's Shoreham Power Plant came up, and I remembered visiting it. It's funny how such a random tangent of research in the name of personal curiousity can return to the familiar. There were cute birds in the pond there. I also know that the thing is closed, and has been after the environmental activists successfully stood up to money and "the man" back in the 1980's. Lovely stories imparted in good times.
Yesterday and today have been full of political, penis-related, and theological moments. Arguments and inquiries about the Valerie Plame Scandal, foreskins(add me to the list below), Supreme Court Nominee Roberts, Zoroaster, Satan, the Cadaver Synod, and Gay Marriage in Canada have been spread about the day. Exciting, no?
My diet here: mac and cheese, cantaloupe, canned asparagus, and pimento-stuffed olives. My beard? Itchy. I need to shave.

Kaisatsuguchi
Namiko is a very cool lady. Her help has been nice so far. I plan on getting a jump start on Japanese through her and the book that Emily dropped off to me before. It's helpful.
"Kaisatsuguchi de teikiken o miseru." You know, that's actually a very weird moment. It's a little event that you don't exactly remember vividly. For me though, it's connected to one particular experience. The subways.
Today I went back to Little Tijuana, and my meal was paid for unexpectedly. Karma I suppose. It was really good today. The table crayons were used to draw multiple things. Death drew this weird lance-piercing-dragon scene. I drew a chocolate ice cream cone with a slice of orange, a rich kid slashing his wrists, a guy with green wires growing out of his ears, and "Fukuoka, Japan" and an old school flag. The red sun you know, with the rays shining out. Tone drew Kang, who claimed to be pleased by tacos as much as conquest. And Tom drew one of those heads. You know, those ones that he does.
Wow. It's cooler. I can feel the difference. Sarcasm.
I haven't shaved in a week and a half, at least. Not the main beard part anyway. I look like a park ranger. Who doesn't shave. Some guy in my apartment asked if I had any mushrooms. He was going to Willy Wonka.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a respite from the heat. I will be cleaning. I will be drinking coffee. I will be going on a walk. Maybe an emotion or two will come out. It will squeak out, and I'll make an excuse for my smile or blink. I want to give in, I want to be excited again. This time I won't have to go to Subway beforehand. I won't have to act goofy or buy Torani or play Depeche Mode before I go. It'll probably already be on. Like it was in Little Tijuana today. That's the future, a dash of the past but much better I suppose. Nothing relived really, just noticing the little moments more during the new experiences. "Kaisatsuguchi de teikiken o miseru." I'm not quoting an anime, I promise. I don't watch those anymore. Haven't for years. This is my own special little phrase. Now if I could only just say it fluently. I sound like an idiot. I am rambling on like a Too Much Coffee Man character. I should get up at 7 and hang out on the red velvet couch at the local jeweler's coffeeshop (that's a metaphor for which coffeeshop it is) and then I'll uh, sit there. Maybe read something.
I need to shave. It's irritating. The cat attacked my shoe. It's getting spayed tomorrow. My new shoe...
Clean, cold metal is refreshing to touch. I like escalators. It's bizarre. It's not ambiguous at least.
People with red rooms are cool. Generally.
Mmm little wires. Then fuzziness. Alternate. It's like caffeinated and then sugarless. Switching between the two, drinking sips of stomach-lining disintegrating soda pop. A special additional ingredient is the blood of murdered union workers. Also, there are girls that get all the love.. with dark eyeliner falling from the sky and splatting all over the sidewalks. There are 60's Africola TV commercial extras from Western Germany marching around with Nina Hagen. They will protect my grandpa and his briefcase from the mob of Aveda Institute girls. Those zombies, that army.

Revolving
Yeah I know it's fucked up. There's a giant space.
What a beautiful day. Bitching about whining was actually a smart thing to do, it brings out the best in some people. Today I was convinced to buy shoes. They're beautiful. And a $4.50 shirt that should be $30.00. Air conditioning was ample advertising for me (and the endless rantings of a sharp-witted, sharpsighted individual).
The Divine Comedy is divine. Ume plum juice in a can today. I sense the drink-dispensing vending machines across the sea through the plastic-coated tin. Where did I get this beverage? Only in the greatest grocery store around.. just an absolutely amazing place. Today I tasted my future.. that sounds unusual.. but hear me out: I just discovered where I am going shopping for a good majority of my fall food needs.
And your lovers revolve through revolving doors. I can't decipher the truth; I'd have to send the storms backwards. The weatherman would masturbate. Then even more would have to change, plus! Sweating, happy.

Exchange
Error?
Reflesh file.
I am in a mad search after midnight.. looking for Zento - Injection TK remix.. a trance song on the "Songnation Trance 2" disc. It is a beautiful track. How I got to looking for something which is seemingly only available on amazon.co.jp is rather complicated.
For now I will settle with The Divine Comedy. Beautiful Neil Hammond.. alas, I try to keep my love for them quiet, lest many people around me loving and listening. It's quite selfish of me. But the "many people" that I know don't really read this. SO it's safe to blabber I guess.
Yeah, "It's great time, no one made me high.." - man, I find all of my music on my own (sarcasm). It was nice to talk to Fr. D when I was still awake and Linda when I was near dead. We're both zombies. "You know when you wakes up and it is like dizzy?" Indeed, I know when happens.
Gotta reflesh that damn file.

Buzzer
Emily does not talk too much.
I want a big middle eastern style sandwich on top of a pyramid with people smoking hookas. I don't smoke, but I like being around it. I get my wish tonight.
Man, London is a great place. So many things that I like come out of that town. Stay tough, Londoners.

Onanieren
"Vanish today, not the first time I hear"
Pretty houses, a fuzzy muskrat, a playful cat, cucumbers... the enjoyable summer continues. It's been pleasant I suppose.
Except for this block of ice that is stuck to my arse. Today they put in cage screens in my window so that I can't escape.
Last week trying to get into the karaoke place. That was a good moment. And the lounge. Although we didn't lounge enough. My fault trying to be more social than needed.
